Would there be any interest if someone in the know (not bloody me) approached someone or some company about a bulk purchase for members?
May be a way for some of us that do not have one yet to get one at a cheaper rate?
Im just thinking as I always say "argh cost too much" when I really see the benifit of having one.
    Just a thought?

Local SAR group up here have bought a few for the purpose of, as it makes life easier for all concerned. The gps function takes all the guess work out to the point where you could say that it takes the "search " out of sar.
Yeah, me n a mate, hired one for the 3 days we were in the Blue Mountains over in OZ last year......Big piece of mind.....

Yup. Our NZDA bought one from club funds which members can use, and yes, many places now hire them out (along with mtn radios). Take one with you, people!

I have a ACR and would not go with out it. Ok it's $599 but mine or someone else's life is worth more than that, and puts my wife at ease.
