What it says on the tin, looking for something waterproof with armpit zips to help dump heat. If the hunters element halo had them that would basically be my perfect jacket. Any ideas?

Marmot Precip could fit the bill.
Tend to be in the realm of serious (i.e. expensive) tramping jackets. When I went down my own waterproof/breathable jacket rabbit hole, this seemed to be the only credible solution.
Yeah, some milsurp stuff has them, but again at a serious price. And it's usually hidden in the description so you have to be actively looking for it.
I've seriously debated just getting a cheap jacket and seeing how much it would cost for twin needle to chuck some zips in.
Ex army goretex jacket around $120 then as you say get pit zips installed.
When I had a clothing business, I put pit zips in a good number in some of the wet weather gear I made. So easy to do at the manufacturing stage for very little extra cost. No need for storm covers or waterproof zips, its just stays pretty dry under there. A decent outfit like Twin Needle should be able to do it no problem.
I never really found pit zips to work, so gave up looking for them on jackets.
Happy Jack.
I bought a huntech tussock jacket on sale a few years back. Apart from the taping peeling here and there it's pretty solid. Has pit zips, good size chest pockets and a good hood on it.
For the sale price I paid it's good value for money.
Some of the hunters element ones have pit zips, not sure if any of their packable ones (like the halo) have them though
