Not sure. But I have a reminder on my phone and in a diary to activate mine before my season starts.

Inreach sos does not work without an activated plan.

It also doesn't work when you leave it turned on in our pack when ou go home and then go to use it on the next trip and it's flat.... Thankfully it wasn't important but t has made me aware of the issue. Is a big bonus of an actual plb with 10year battery

That why I always carry a powerbank or 2.
The mini + powerbank weighs the same as a larger inreach model.
The mini manual says 50 hours use per charge.
I have spent 20 days away from a power source using it everyday but turning it off once finished and it still had over 50% life in it before I decided to charge it again.

That does sound good but there’s something reassuring about a PLB being one use only. As long as you remember to take it, you’re good. With the Inreach you do have to remember to switch it off, charge it, keep the subscription current.

Both similar tools that do the job slightly different. I have both and usually carry both unless it is a trip I am trying to cut down on weight. Plb is pretty idiot proof for someone else to set off if I hurt myself...
