    Recommended wet weather gear

Hi all, anyone have experience with hi quality wet weather gear? NOT HUNTERS ELEMENT, I have there best kit, had to send jacket back to get replaced, zip is hard to use and seizes up, the jacket and paints fail in heavy weather, I don't want to send them back again, fear I'd be flogging a dead horse, I just want a quality product that works for hard use and I don't have to baby. What's your preference ?

Can I jump in here and ask about lightweight rainwear? Loving my ultralight setup but all the lightweight jackets I've tried are pretty average...

Swazi is good and NZ made, I've got an old tahr anorak and the new light weight rifleman. Only had the rifleman in a couple of rain storms so far and kept me dry, very breathable and quick drying compared to the old tahr. If I was to get a longer one it would be a Swazi kagoule ( has better pockets).

@tikka so how long is the rifleman? Waist/crotch/thigh length?
When I contacted Swazi they said they'd only be available direct so can't go have a look at one.

@Nga yeah I wouldn't touch Hunters element with a barge pole, the huntech jacket was getting good wraps, that or Swazi, the other option is something like the Macpac resolution jacket which is what I use, it's not quite for use in the bush but great for open tops hunting, etc wait for one of there sales

Get a ground effects outer shell if your just wanting lightweight waterproof, need a warm layer under it though. You get what you pay for with rain gear, thinking of getting a Swazi to replace my Ridgeline at some point

It's not spam if it's stuff you are interested in (cool outdoor stuff) but nobody is forcing you to sign up.

I am waiting for the 600g quilt I ordered off Massdrop to turn up...

Macpac resolution jacket for me. Way lighter than hunting brand ones, doesn't soak up water and therefore dries quickly. Not as quiet in the bush but if its raining enough to wear a raincoat noise won't be an issue.
