Rifle socks/covers are they worth it?

Normally I'm a bush hunter so rifle is in my had 100% of the time, but will be heading out this roar to places that require the rifle to be strapped to my pack for a decent chuck of the walk in/up and walk out/down. Most likely little in the the way of deer trails till it opens up a bit, so was considering getting a bushbuck rifle sock.

Those that have them and use them, what are your views on rifle socks? Worth the investment or just another bit of hunting 'bling' that sounds good, but not in practice.

I have the solo hunter version and use it a lot of the time even in the open tops its good for when you lay your rifle down in the tussock

we use the bushbuck covers on all our rifles when strapped to the pack. My feeling being you spend a large sum of cash on your toy , why not spend just a little more to help protect it and the scope. Also helps keep the rain off should you get caught and prevent the pack straps rubbing and marking the stock/scope .
Also doesn't look as obvious or threatening to , shall we say , those who aren't comfortable around firearms , when you meet them on track than having a rifle strapped on in plain sight .
That's my view on them anyway .

looks like the bushbuck covers are still on special at $40 each instead of the usual $80

I’ve got one of the ones @MB shared. I rate them. Was always getting bits of foliage jammed between barrel & stock. Quick & easy to slip off. The Bushbuck ones are probably worth paying a bit more for, they look quieter and more protective.

My only complaint with the bushbuck , well not really a complaint exactly , is can be a little tight over a suppressor if suppressor is wrapped in tape like ours are . Goes on fine but can bind a little taking it off . If suppressor unwrapped with metal finish then slides off easy.

I have got one of the AliExpress socks. Seems fine, haven't used it yet. Bought it for when I go in to an area popular with trampers/non-hunters.

I like the idea but but my pack straps are detach so by chucking a cover over it they become a prick to release. I can remove my rifle without removing the pack fairly effectively so haven't bothered. My rifles however would look much better than they do if I used one as they are all well used.

It’s one of those items that falls into the not necessary category for me so wouldn’t get used. Especially when hunting from a pack and i’m being strict on necessity items for weight/bulk. Neoprene scope cover protects expensive glass for me and the rest never has an issue.

Yea I agree with the above, I realize they don’t weigh much but all adds up, and don’t really need one.. only considered one to keep sticks out of the barrel channel when going to the tops. Would then just leave it off once through the Bush.
