I always wanted to make my own knife. Finally got it done. Pretty pleased with the result. Now to take it hunting.

Love this thread. Saved up and bought an Argali tent a year or so ago, and a Serac knife snuck in on the order. Couldn't afford it now, pricing has gone through the roof (think the States has a little inflation problem too). Wanted a knife with quality steel that would not require resharpening in the field. This has SV35N and have been able to process and bone out two reds in field comfortably. Use a Worksharp guided field sharpener, the shiz.

My usual cooking knife, made from rail track, forged with some other materials unknown from a workshop. Listen to the sound of it, if I could had a same one in NZ, then I can cook those big paua more delicious.

So be it
Picked up a few knives in a recent trip to Japan. Pretty cool be able to find ashi hamono off the shelf as they are basically impossible to find these days. Also hard not to pick up a higonokami when they are ony 20 bucks

Awesome blade! How many layers do you think this dagger has?
I made the Damascus bullet first which has around 100 layers in it then I made this billet which is 5 so Damascus/copper/01/copper/ Damascus.
