The sheath is fine.

My advice is not to go grinding at the edge unless you chip it, which is unlikely if you treat it as a hunting knife. I use 2000 and 6000 grit water stones. The factory edge is fine, and if you make it too thin you loose the advantage of the convex grind supporting the edge.

Strop it on the rough side of leather glued to a piece of ply. You rub stropping compound onto the leather (get it from DLT or KSF in the States. I use Black (course) and white (fine) - most people use black and green - green isn't as fine as white). You can buy stropping paddles too. For in the field you can get little stiff leather strops.
Don't use a steel on it.

You have a fantastic knife there and it will give you a lifetime of pleasure.

Elmax is great, and one sharpening will do a few deer.

Treat your wife well too, she's a gem. They mostly are.

Cheers for the tips mate, yep she's pretty sharp straight out of the box, first thing next year ill be buying some leather stops and compound, I don't mind the sheath it holds the knife nice and tight at the moment.

OK I have to ask...What the hell are the two spiky things pointing back to where you would normally hold a knife for???

Yip, i think oneshot is correct, they could also be of use during a dual with a sword!
They do unscrew so you dont look to tactical with them, haha...

Its solid, if you like fishing no need for a boat anchor.
If you were strong enough to throw it the energy behind it would kill an army.

So just to get my head around this......In tactical theory you would unscrew them and store them in some type of tactical pouch until you had a use for them?

The end of the handle unscrews, never tried to fit them so would think there is enough room.

The idea is that you drive the knife into something solid and you thread your roe around the spikes and use them for lowering yourself over a cliff. Problem is you lose your knife

Purely a gimmick for those wanting something Tacticool. you would be better off tying a rope around a rock and throwing that instead.

'Taticool' had yet to become a religion when this knife was released ~30 years ago.
