Thread: Show me your knives

Hey Viper I’m curious about the vinyl stencils, can you reuse them once made or do you make a new one each time?

Currently I use nail polish and then scratch a logo into that, then a 9 volt battery and vinegar on a cotton bud, but I don’t get the repeatability or the neatness of yours.

I would be interested in buying some vinyl stencil off of you, or even commissioning one if that would be something you do.

Here is another kitchen knife made with the help of
gonetropo

donation of some Mahogany scales, thank you very much!
The knife comes from the Recycling Center and was covered in rust, the handles had borers in it and where beyond repair.
There was a chunk missing on the cutting edge and I ground it back till it was flush.
There is still lots of pitting on the blade and wonder how other people remove these??
The pitting is quite deep and I am thinking of leaving them on the blade as it gives some character..?
But always open for suggestions

What are you guys using to attach the handle scales?

I am using epoxy glue, mix 1:1, slow curing, apply it thin and evenly and clamp it slightly, works for me.

Thanks. Do you use pins, rivets or corby bolts as well?

I just started making knives and have so far only used brass pins but will probably try the ones you mentioned one day.

The epoxy will hold the blade plenty well for all but the most brutal uses, especially if keyed in properly, use whichever pin/fixing method that you like the look of.

Yeah mate.... my mate who loves New Zealand made it for me.... only thing I did was supply the penny,and the design,...Ulu Alaskan style,.... the rounded blade great for skinning .... taken a while but she’s a beauty ,elk horn handle with a custom made sheath...

Hunting mate wanted a exact copy of a ESSE-3. Not really my cup of tea as it has flat slab handle scales and a pointy glass breaker on the back, but its what he wanted.
