Yea it is a waste for firewood but no one else will do much with it. Some nice pieces would be good for sawn timber but not sure how you would get on with the silt/cracking.

A bit of an update, last year I was running a 572 but also went and bought a 592 which is a totally different beast being slightly heavier but also more powerful even by the sound of it when you fire her up.

Since then, it's been running sweet where I even bought a 32-inch bar for some of the bigger logs I deal to.

Just the other month I bought another 572 which was going cheap which I run with a 20-inch bar.

After doing 15 cube of Mac and slabbing a bit as well some old man pine beckoned. It looked big standing up but it seems even bigger lying down. We have our work cut out for us getting this split. Not the prettiest stump but it was 1.5 m in diameter.
We counted the rings and got to 119 before we lost track about half an inch from the bark.

I stick with the classics. Haven't had a chance to break in the new piston due to slipped discs... The old man stepped in and bought me a load of wood for next year, we usually go get a tree together around this time of year.

Forgive me father for I have sinned. My dad made me do it. Used a orange saw last week.....and worse still it was electric!!!!! Stuff that I said and dug out his old ms160? Wee Stihl...much betterer. Was rather impressed as he neglects his gear but she ran like a dream and made short work of whatever I asked once I had given chain a wee tickle up. And yes I did shower after using the "spawn of the devil" orange thing.

Anyone here own a brand named Active? Picked up my first top handle called an active 39.39, got a few spares from solo nz too. $550 for the saw and another $230 for spare clutch, sprocket, AV mounts, fuel filter & pull start.
