    Sleeping Bag Zipper Plow

I have an Exped Waterbloc sleeping bag and the zip is a prick for getting stuck.
Has anybody any experience of "Plow Zippers"?
They are meant to avoid snagging.
Has anybody used one and are they any good.?
Has anybody had one fitted by the likes of Twinneedle?.
    TIA Owen

Nope but a chunky ykk is the best I have used bigger teeth just seemed to work better. I feel your frustrations, our great outdoor bags are awesome but the fine flap beside it does become a pain. I find leading zipper with fingers ,sort of like when gutting animal helps.

A zipper replacement through TwinNeedle may be the go. But first try a light spray of silicone to help it out.

Check on the zip head to see if its a genuine YKK zip, theYKK symbol and size will be on the back of the zip head. If it is, you can buy a new zip head and replace it, then use a dob of hot melt glue to act as a stopper so it doesnt come off the end where you fitted it back on. And make sure you get the right YKK replacement, theres a number of different heads for the same type of zip.

If it aint got YKK on the back of it, good luck! Easiest way is to get a new zip fitted.

    Nothing wrong with the zip.
It easily gets caught on the baffles.
The plow appears to be a plastic piece that lets zips feed better.
Interested if people have experience of them.
Only just read about it a review on a new sea to summit bag

Would a very lightweight fabric tape on the draught baffle keep it smooth and off the zipper enough to get the job done?

Never thought of that. Might have to go to spotlight with the wife.
    Thanks for the idea

I see where you are coming from now.
Would a couple of dabs of carefully shaped silicone do similar? Striker NZs idea of tape would be a goer too.

Have one on a new Rab sleeping bag, it’s certainly better than not having it. The idea of a tape would be a good option, it came standard on a western mountaineering bag I have and works really well.
