@viper pm'd you. Owe you a beer just for the offer
I had an Antelope Hunter II, looked more or less the same as that Bear Hunter but I think slightly smaller (and mine was orange handle). Great knife, one of my favourites I've had.
Lost it in scrub somewhere when a matagouri ripped it out of the sheath. After that I stopped wearing knives on my belt and kept them in a pack or bumbag instead. Looked for a replacement a few times but couldn't find one.
I have a Kershaw Elk Hunter now which is a good knife too, but its a guthook blade which makes it less versatile. Seemed like a good idea at the time but I liked the Antelope Hunter better.

@GravelBen....sounds like you need to buy a couple of bachos...one for the belt and another for the daybag.....if you put sheath on inside of belt the knife is a bugger to get out but wont come out in scrub...I used to drill a hole through plastic handle on the old green rivers and put loop through and then over the top...
@Micky Duck I have a couple of Bahco knives for general utility stuff but I'm not a big fan of them for hunting - I find them a bit shallow in the blade and the straight tip too long and pointy which can accidentally puncture things more easily than other knives.
yip but they do do the job and you dont cry quite so much if it gets lost LOL
I ve got one in each wagon...they live there as spares and its amazing just how often they get used.
@GravelBen yeah the Anty is a little smaller then the Bear hunter. If the Anty had a handle like the old bear it would've been better.
Apart from the blade the elk hunter would handle well? Better shape than the anty
@csmiffy My Antelope had the same handle with the finger grooves, I really liked it.

The Elk hunter does handle well - a bit bigger, heavier and more solid than the Antelope. Handle is a softer rubber texture and rounder fatter profile, the Antelope handle was flatter squarer profile.
Actually looking on Kershaw website I think mine is the Elk Skinner rather than Elk Hunter, deeper flatter blade shape.

I like A...but maybe a slight bit more of a drop point
Maybe it's been said, but what thickness steel? I wouldn't go more than 3.5mm. Maybe less. Nothing worse than a heavy thick blade when trying to do fine work with a blade.
i9f its being used on the reciprocating saw youd bloody need old fashioned westcoast sawmills skid grease as a lubricant!-if a howler and a sprayer at point of no return wet weather gear and a life jacket too.
just looked at mine-doesnt have that accesory but have a bit of manuka branch in the shed and a couple of angle grinder flap sanding discs.final polisj ala naturale id think!1
