if anyone travels thru ashburton, call into the sock shop behind the warehouse, the manufacture socks for lots of big name brands and are a fraction of retail price

was wearing NZDF issue army socks for ages, then had "the ultimate boot sock" which was good but the top of them is lose now.
Brought Bridgedale heavyweight merino socks - real happy with them, really comfortable and no hot spots at the end of the day

Got gifted a pair of Icebreaker socks from torpedo7, lifetime warranty! Get a hole in them and take them back. Have been wearing them for work and hunting to get that hole...

Smartwool. Great boot socks and their sport range is epic too. They don’t smell after days of use and I’ve never had a blister in them. Family friend runs ultra marathons and swears by them.
