    Spartan tripod

Has anyone got or use one of these? I love the versatility of them but just wondering whether it would be too finicky interchanging trekking poles, bino tripod etc etc
I also can’t find any in NZ… does anyone know how to get one in need?
Staeger Sport don’t seem to have anything….

You could try Greg Duley at NZ Hunter. They sell Spartan gear.

Rivers to Ranges in rangiora stock them as do broncos.....pretty sure guncity do as well, might be worth ringing them if nothing showing on website. I believe NZ Asia (Leupold importer) are the new agents.
I have used one for a while and find it more than adequate, superlite and good value considering the competition is a lot more expensive (not knocking them ).
definitely get into a good habit about where you store/carry it whilst hunting as you will loose it if it slips out of your pocket/pack etc.
the other thing to be weary of is the temporary/removable mounts will move if you load them up so better to go the the effort of fitting a permanent gunsmith style adaptor either yourself or pay a gunsmith to do it.
all that aside I love mine and rate it.

sorry no idea of current prices...give RtR a ring tomorrow I'm sure they will be able to help you, or take a punt and chuck up a wanted to buy add on the buy sell section ? you never know what might turn up.
Last bit of advice either get the adjustable one or if not get the long fixed leg the short is too short to be useful in my experience. I have the adjustable but pretty much use it fully extended every time. In fact I can't remember ever using it any other way (I guess you might if shooting steep uphill or off a boulder).
The fixed leg ones will be cheapest option.

so he is hard to beat the carbon tripod you put me onto in that case....will dig out the model number etc later but it was $200ish from Aliexpress plus the davros head for the spartan adapter from Guncity

the carbon tripod was Artcise or something like that from memory
@Ponchorello welcome to come have a look at mine if you like and can get to North Canterbury, took less than 7 days to arrive when ordered....I'll post a pic up later this evening when I get home from work.

Hi PerazziSC3 I see you had the 50SC?? How did you find that? Does that cover most of your glassing/ shooting needs? I’d like something smaller/ lighter if I can get away with it. Cheers

I have added the Davao’s head to a Manfrotto carbon tripod with heavy duty optics head. It’s a great set up for spotting scopes and bingos, and I have been able to use it for rifle when the bipod isn’t tall enough. It’s really steady and gives confidence and ability for longer range shots.

The set up is a lot. Lighter than a standard tripod head too with may more utility.

I didn’t buy the Spartan tripod as $$$$….
