Don't believe the res plans let you use the mini hardware - if you could ring someone I would like to see if they would link the mini/roam to your main plan so you could use it as a backup and odd-occasion travel option. Pain in the arse to have to run two plans otherwise...

I’ve done the same Ryan. I went for the Anker 27500 battery pack and I can get around 4 hours. At first I was getting less but I turned off the snow melt feature and it goes better now.
I saw a kit on line that had a battery and everything needed to run it in a pelican like case, I replicated that today and had mine running from inside the case I got for mine from Super Cheap.

It’s a great piece of kit. My next trick will be to set it up in the bush some where and go live and shoot a deer.

Looks like they have started a 5GB roam plan for $15/month over in oz, hopefully that makes it over here as that would be perfect for how I plan to use mine. Would get more data if I was doing longer trips if required.

Good tip re the snow melt function I'll have to do that to mine next time I fire it up. Hoping to get down to Te Anau and away up the lake on the boat next week and Big Brother Argentina is currently on and I know a certain someone who can't miss an episode!

Dang, you were about a month too late in posting this.

We've upgraded from a standard VDSL copper connection (all that was available even when we are close to town) to the de-prioritised Starlink.
Before 38 Mbps down, 8 Mbps up, after between 300-380 Mbps down 8-10 Mbps up.

Plug and play to setup - though the first satelllite dish was DOA. Replacement kit arrived within a week.
Ordered roof mount and extra cable to compllete the setup.

I expected worse upload performance than we're getting.
And Starlink is $20/month less than the old VDSL.

The standard dishy is the way to go residential, I'm told it's better than the mini setup but the mini is natively 12v powered and portable so...

Sorry for being “that guy “ but before reading this thread I’d never heard of this device, so can someone quickly explain to me it’s capabilities
Is it for getting the internet for weather forecast and such?
Can it be used for sat nav in the bush?
Is it good for sending texts?
Sounds like the all singing all dancing device
