Thread: Swarovski atc spotting scope

Looking at buying the atc for a new lightweight set up. Anyone have used one for chamois and tahr at range and how do you find it judging animals. Currently got a vortex razor 27-60 and not expecting it to compare but sick of carrying a big one round. Also does it keep its clarity at full zoom?

Not the ATC but have had an extensive play around with the new model Vortex Mini Razor 13-39x56 and never truely felt like I was missing a larger objective spotter- especially when I chucked my phone onto it and could zoom in. If you have a heap of experience judging tahr and chamois it'll do the job for sure.

I'm sure the Swaro blows away the Vortex one too. But for the price it is not a bad option and only 850 odd grams.

Oh yeah nice I have looked through both and set on the swaro just trying to justify the price

I've got one.
I like it. I put my leica APO 65 next to it prior to purchasing the swaro and the glass was on par.
The reason I went for the swaro was simply the weight and size. It will be more likely to be packed as it is small and lightweight.
I don't see a great difference in the field of view from the 2
If you want to look at animals further away you simply need good glass with a greater objective value, I.e a 50x or 60x,it is is simple as that. If weight isn't an issue go for a bigger unit if you want a better image

Were the Duleys using one for a while?

Ive had mine for 12 months or so now , really happy with it but it's definitely a compromise with the smaller obj lens at full magnification. Get a good phone adaptor though and you'll be pretty happy. It's so much easier when they're so small. Ocular lens cover comes off pretty easily so need to be aware of that when stuffing it in pack etc.

I’m a Swaro fan. This ain’t a light machine but I can look through this all day. Swaro BTX ( binocular) . I have an 85mm objective and will buy a 65mm for lighter trips.

As others have said good but make sure you get the phone mount, can zoom right in for assessments. Good crisp picture

Where’s the best place to buy one of these? And what tripod is everyone using?

Haven't shot at game with it yet but was using it to trial if it would work and it holds up well to both my .284 and 7mmRM
