A couple of lengths of reinforcing tiewire

Plastic tape like insulation tape but double width - sellotape brand is best I've found.

Hand sanitiser for starting a fire

Rolltop drybag for storing sleeping bag in then stuffing clothes in to make a pillow at night

Spare cellphone battery in a ziplock bag

    Waterless hand sanitizer
    Dish soap
    Face wash
    Toothpaste
    Wet wipes

Civilised bush trips without carrying the kitchen sink

+1 the ultralight sea-to-summit dry bags are brilliant, every time bivouac has a sale i get more of them, separate bags for kitchen, clothes, sleeping etc - everything stays dry, your pack has significantly better floatation...

Put your phone on airplane mode and it will last for a good week. I keep meaning to bring in some spare batteries for mine from china, they are only about $7 and would certainly be a handy thing to have

Rolltop drybags are the shit .. come in so many different sizes and fabric .. BUT the lighter weight ones are more prone to small tears that let the moisture in ...

My favourite item would be my stainless cutlery set. I bought 5 of them but after lending them out I have only one complete set left. The metal is thick enough that it maintains its shape. The knife actually cuts. When I am cooking up a big brew of grub for a large group I can turn it into a long handled spoon. I add in a teaspoon too.

Also I take a 400mmx400mm microfibre cloth for a towel. There isn't a lot of me and it will dry me off after a bath/swim/shower/dunk.

I would say a photo of the wife tucked away however it is not macho to mention here so I will have to say insulation tape is my friend. Depending on the type of trip I try to get away with just using a spoon and "heat and eat" meals like pasta or Kaweka Meals type food that can be eaten from the packet. That way I only use one pot to heat my meal/s, dirty 1 spoon and no other dishes to clean. Use the hot water for a brew and wash the spoon in.
Ziplock bags are great for packing the days food/radios/wallet etc in as are the drybags for keeping gear dry as already mentioned.
I always carry my wallet or some form of ID. You never know when your number is up and when you will be found

Looks very similar to NZDF KFS set. I think I still have mine somewhere...

I've gone away from the spare phone battery thing and bought a battery pack to charge from, I got a Anker Astro3E 10000mAh job (imported for ~$70) which is probably overkill but I can get 4 charges from it from flat. Has the benefit of if I change phones I can just use the same pack and also I don't need to pull the back of my phone off which can be a bit of a front bum as it's got o-rings etc to keep it waterproof.

From memory these were Hercules brand from Brazil. I haven't been able to find any more either.
