Great to see nz manufacturers like kiwiultralight with a good range, their fly / tarp set up looks awesome. Their sheet things are really good, you don’t really need a sleeping bag liner then. Just the quilt and sheet and mat, about 500 g warmer than my old sleeping bag and warmer and more comfortable. If I was going on a mid winter trip in snow I’d maybe stick with a sleeping bag. But on my last trip with my kiwi ultralight quilt I was in 0-2 degrees on a mountain in a tent late April, and was toasty warm. Possibly too warm and had no insulation layers on. Be comfortable with -5 as the rating states.

Also was there with my southernlite kiwi made pack…Another great kiwi outdoor ultralight company.

I reckon a cross between a quilt and a Neve style sleeping bag would be great. Maybe some flat domes to clip the underside sheet to the upper. So you can decide if you want to use the underside sheet or not. I used to run a EE quilt.
If the crowd in NN had been around when I bought I would have gone with them.
Also consider hi end synthetics like primaloft will be better in wet conditions.

I run a Kathmandu Comet, it's very much a summer bag and if it's going to be a bit cooler I use a Sea to summit Reactor thermal liner.
It packs down about the size of a loaf of bread and is pretty damn cheap compared to so many other sleeping bags.

If I'm heading out on an icy trip, then I take my One Planet Bungle, it's a far higher quality bag but also packs twice the size and cost a LOT more.

Honestly you’d be waisting your money if you brought anything other than the Aliexpress option. I’ve had a Nature Hike Leigh weight model for two years now and it’s perfect for summer hunting, plus it takes up half the room of my warmer Macpac bag.

    Second what craig said.
I have one of these and it is pretty good can go down to 0c with thermals and sock.
Quality is pretty good comparable with an Enlightened Equipment quilt I have which is too hot, cooked in a hut couple weeks ago when it only got down to 3c in hut.

For summer a quilt is unbeatable - with a ultralight fitted sheet from kiwi ultralight. you can sprawl out like a drunken stick insect
