Probably won't be able to get 1 in time... but I'd recommend looking at a quilt as a summer option. I use a Katabatic Gear quilt and find it awesome for the weight and packed size

I have a MacPac escapade also. In winter I can use it as a liner for my Sea to Summit MCIII.

I have been looking at a Sea to Summit Micro 3 how do you find it.
What temps/conditions is it still comfortable.
Looking at one to use instead of my Fairydown Lightweight.
Can it handle spring/autumn frosts -5c for example.

Been vey happy with my Montbell down hugger 800#2. -6 temp rating and only 735 gms. Works out cheaper than a lot of nz sold bags like the Sea to Summit Spark SpII which has a much higher temp rating (not as warm). The Super Spiral-Stretch System means the bag will stretch when you move giving more freedom of movement and has a POLKATEX water repellent system which makes it resistant to light rain and oils so easier to keep clean

I rate my moontbell too. Mine might be a #3. Maybe rated to 0 degrees from memory. Go through the Japan website if you decide to get one.

Look like it will be the Macpac Escapade Down 150 - Boxing Day Sale weight 500 grams I'm such a warm blooded individual and generate so much heat when I'm sleeping I quickly turn sleep into a sauna session.
Off to do the Hollyford Track end of January one off my bucket list

I have a Roman Palm IV which has worked OK for me. Use it for summer and on the boat.
Have gone into sub zero on 1 occasion, had to wear my thermals, socks and a hat to keep the ice that rained down from the inside of the fly off my head.
Oh they are not waterproof either got damp (not cold) feet when I slipped down hill and my feet pocked out form under the fly in the rain.
Over all for the price they are good. Not suitable for larger guy's.

ill vote for another mont bell, i have the #2. had mine for about 5 years now. its rated to minus 5 apparently, however id say it is a good all round bag for a north islander

@erniec I’d say the MCIII is good to about 3C for me. It’s rated to -2 I think but I’d get cold before that. Mind you I’m late 50s and skinny so I guess I sleep cold. 😬

I am also late 50s and not over weight.
I have slept in my Fairydown down to -10c in a tent.
Want something just a bit lighter.
Looking at what is available around the 700-900 grams mark.
Sorting some lighter gear for some armed tramps.
Always reckon you need to allow for the worst.
CNI no wind clear sky with a bit of altitude can get cold any time of the year.
Always use a liner and have merino tee,long johns,beanie,pufffer and socks to put on if needed.

Yep my old bag before the MCIII is a 30 year old Fairydown Scorpion. Still going fine. Weighs 1.3kg or so I think. Just like you I was looking for a lighter bag for warmer weather. The MC III is 800 gm and pretty versatile. I like it. Not as roomy as the Fairydown but ok. Sounds like you have it sorted! Liner, long johns, tick tick tick.

Yeah man. I've had -4 on the umakari at the end of Feb. My summer bag is -7 rated quilt. Easy to vent but still warm if temps drop overnight

I’ve got MCIII and really like it, lightweight, packs down small, used it on our Greenstone Trip last winter (which was pretty cold) with one of the sea to summit thermaliners which boosts the temp by 8deg, https://www.bivouac.co.nz/gear/campi...tor-liner.html

I have to say the Montbells get a lot of good press. I’m tempted to try one of those for temps below what the MCIII can handle.

I had a mont bell nice bag but a bit small and not as well made as the Domax superlite i have now.
So far the superlite seems great.
