I've been doing similar for a while now but I must say I'd not always had a good run from the plastic rolls I've bought from the Warehouse. I've found some of them don't like being frozen and can leak or will let air in which is frustrating. Appreciate the advice on the Sunbeam product - thank you for that.

And that toastie idea is legendary! Thanks Ryan.

Heavier than freeze dry yes but well worth it, I had stopped using freeze dry years ago and used kaiwaka meals when they were making them

Yeah it’s a shame ‘kaweka’ meals are no longer available, they were good.

If you're on the tops then you are probably carrying water anyway, so dehy/not dehy is mostly a wash. On the other hand, genius idea with the sandwich.

Having stuff you can eat without needing to rehydrate or cook is sometime useful too, of course.

I found Go Native meals to be good. Very similar to the Kaweka meals. Can get 24hr ration packs from them as well.

Dont just leave it at food items.
    Flood prone? Seal important documents.
Going bush? Seal a set of dry gear.
I guess, at a push, you could even seal a rifle for a trip into wet country,

Today I saw a steamed pudding on clearance at the shop so I have made up a few steamed pudding and custard, couple of half apricots and vacpacked them for mountain pudding!

Cant for the life of me find bags in the shops, have had to order in. Price ranged from $15 $40 for 2 rolls.

    Will buy one tomorrow
Presumably Briscoes sell the same bags but question for those who know - who else stocks the Sunbeam bags?
    Thanks in advance
