Orson hopper 2 is a msr copy,
Went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn't find any.
OK
So the "copies" are legit and not hidden copies (counterfeit)
Anyone heard or know about a Chez Company Hannah
Sell a lot of Tents etc in East Europe
eg - Hannah Expedition
Hannah Covert 2
Got the luxe copy of the msr hubba hubba well made and great tent but not great in wind have spent the odd night not knowing if it was going to last so on the look out for something like the MacPac Olympus or minaret
for longer trips
Had a huntec bivy but got sick of the sand flies when down fiordland so prefer a tent now
Maclac Olympus is great, I've had mine since 1997. They are heavy, but if you split the fly and inner between 2 it is not quite heavy.
No worries about the wind damaging an Olympus.
Macpac Micro or Macro. Genuine four seasons in our terms. I've seen both hold up when MSR's have shredded and a hillberg snapped poles. Macpac's came through totally unscathed.
If you plan on hunting in sandfly or mozzie country, don't rely on a huntech or stoney creek bivvy, you won't get much sleep and will wake up covered in itchy spots...bit like after a trip to hamilton.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.
I have the MSR nx 2 man and the Luxe copy. I have used these tents on the west coast tahr hunting over the past 5/6 years. The Luxe copy is pretty damn good for the money, but did leak slightly around some of the door seams where the tie back toggles were stitched in big storms. I bought the MSR after this and find it excellent, but in big storms with heavy rain a bit of splashing on the inner, and the vestibule pegs can pull if not secured with longer pegs.
I think there is better value then the MSR try big Agnes and some of the marmot 2 mans which were selling at 550 odd at Sitka show. Mates Tatonka pretty good, slightly heavier but pretty bullet proof.
Been bush for the last 2 weeks so only just seen this now.
So i dont have one but a mate does and it is freaking awesome. Will be the next purchase. Not the cheapest.... about 1k or thereabouts.
1.7kg so pretty light weight but durable. Bloody strong. Reviewed as : Exceptionally spacious, durable, and weather resistant for its weight, top-tier materials, pitches easily from the outside, spectra guylines with camming adjusters, removable inner tent, reflective points
