    winter alpine boots

Suggestions wanted for good quality winter alpine boots ?

Just back from five days fly in at altitude and its already bloody cold up there.
Planning to be in the alps a fair bit this winter and think its time to get a dedicated pair of insulated high altitude boots.
Just your typical tahr hunting with a little bit of crampon work and some snow shoeing also.

Haven't used insulated or goretex boots before and would like to know what works and what doesn't ?
Especially what brands and dealers to avoid due to faults and poor after sale service ?
Not worried cost as will only be used for about a month each year.

    Cheers all

Had three mates from Germany with me and they got these. So all happy and plenty seen.

I got a pair of Garmont Mountain Guide Pro from Torpedo 7 for $320 on sale but it doesn't look like they carry that model any longer.

Was lucky to find them in a store so I could try on before buying - sizing was small so went a full size up from EU44 to EU45.

First wore them on day 1 of a 4 day thar trip - very comfortable right out the door.

Maybe your German mates could get you some Lowa's of Meindle's? (Just don't mention the world cup)
But seriously....the most important thing about stiff alpine boots is a good fit. Try some on.

Take a look into some f the American winter work boots, heavy with a steel cap but inner felt that you can dry.

Might be surprised, got a pair through amazon
