Don't overlook the usefulness of a good straight hook. If you are cutting down anything under 6" a hook will out perform an axe.

There was an old axe in a farm shed for as long as I can remember. Decided to clean it up for a project this last wet week.

Turns out it's a Hults Bruk small felling axe. Cleaned the rust off cold blued it,a new handel fitted. Stained and two coats of boiled linseed and it's as good as new.
