While your comment that it swings like a club and does not fit you is perfectly valid. That your 18 mates shoot an A400 so it must be better is not. The sad truth is that in NZ Browning importers Cameron sports has done a terrible job for years marketing and supporting this brand. In fact I would go so far as to say Browning survives here in spite of them not because of them. Walk into a Hunting and Fishing for example and if you found a new Maxus that you could fondle I would be shocked, want a demo gun you can try? fat chance. However rock up to any one of many eye opener shoots around the country and chances are there will be a Beretta stand with guns to try (to their credit). People buy what they can hold and try, and if it is not in stock which for Brownings happens only in the occasional store they don't get sold. No one would suggest that a high end BMW is better than a Corolla but which one sells more?.
Browning gold 12g 3 inch for me. My old mans versamax has problems with unloading it because the bolt release button catches. Or is it the bolt lock im not sure. Anyway I wouldnt buy one
Ditto on yr comments @Got-ya.......I too, have noticed the same thing in kiwi......I browse the selection(s)like everyone else, mainly out of interest.....the saying...”different strokes for different folks” comes to mind...........thanks for the reply mike,we are all different, when spending that type of money ,you buy something that fits “your” mold.....
It's not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.....Sir Edmund Hillary
escort man from way back and if ya dont like it hup the lotta yas!!
ive got a shotty her which possibly came from dunedin in 1865 or therabouts and to my knowledge was used by a late cousin for ducks in 1963 before dad caught him using smokeless ammo and confiscated it .my uncle also has my late fathers shotgun which when time is right ill diplomatically seek to return it to my collection.
what makes me laugh in these modern times is the rubbishing of so called "budget brands"
One of CHCH's more prominent "shooters" gooseman extraordinaire"endless promoter of the latest shotty in the shop took a bog standard escort S/A off the rack and trialled it with his coterie in a solid w/e goose hunt on molesworth . .
I NEARLY FUCKING CHOKED ON MY ALE. THIS RECTAL DISCHARGE when i wanted another shotty tried every trick in the book to dissuade me from buying my 2nd hand escort ,spend another $400 and get a quality stoeger. Yeah fuckin right.
I made the anal sphincter wait 2weeks before i bought that Escort .Regrets ZILCH aint karma a bitch -comes back and bites ya right in the arse,
his shelf gun was handed round like a whore at a Hells angels pissup ,fed every thing under the sun .never missed a beat.and when he took it to a prominent CHCH gunsmth For an autopsy ,Dr gunsmith declared the guts looked brand new(superman candidly admitted an estimated 600-1000rds had gone through that gun on that outing)
I also had good success with the Browning Maxus, only sold it to buy a Miroku.
Honestly the only Beretta shotgun I ever liked was the Urika and that was so over engineered and finicky to clean I gave up on it.
Versamax has been mentioned but also take a look at the Remington V3, little brother to the versamax and in my opinion every bit as good except you can't run 3.5 in shells if that is an issue
It has the best magazine cut off I've ever seen and the gas system is so easy and simple.
They are 1/2 and maybe a bit less of the cost of the 400 depending on where you shop and a limited lifetime warranty. Show me a Beretta that has that.
For the difference in price from the 400 you can buy a shit load of shells and diesel .
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
If you go the a400 way pm me as I might be able to put you into a near new one a bit cheaper than new
