are you lifting your cheek from the stock, common problem when shooting over broom on riverbed, keep that gun moving, don't stop on trigger pull.remember angle and lead change rapidly on a crosser, especially if shooting close.

dont think so im only getting one shot per bird as the drop in to the broom over banks or higher scrub
its the angle thats stuffin me. left to right should be a lolly for me but its crossing with like 30 t0 45 degree angle away and by the time the angle brings them briefly tail on theyre behind or over something
Good numbers between Cromwell and Alexandra. Shot quite a few in Bannockburn.

are you lifting your cheek from the stock,
Some of the better stuff is where Munsey mentioned. Benigo and around Wanaka have good numbers and I've seen plenty on some on the stations I've hunted Chukar(around Tekapo and Benmore).
what's the best hunting gear - http://www.hunterfields.com/
Saw them by the truckload through Bendigo and even Cromwell town outskirts a few months back
used to be a lot up on the hills above lake coleridge village to and the flats opn barrossa station ip the ashburton gorge
Quail are a challenge to hunt. They are noisy, ‘talkative’ birds making it easy to identify where a group or ‘covey’ may be resting but their rapid speed and small size make the shooting challenging.

There are good sized coveys in the Cromwell/Bannockburn area at present. I shot for a living in the Awatere valley in the '60's and there were good numbers of Quail on the river flats and side gullies. Chukar were in reasonable numbers higher up the hillsides in rocky outcrops.
