very noble till you start seein the damage the buggers do to any land if allowecd to take up residence unchecked.their shit stinks something else too! saw a few on a river backwash as we pulled away from a mates place after his funeral yesterday .Cheers G rest easy man and the next geese i nail are in your memory
just a word to you guys -check if riverbeds etc are under DOC stewardship -if so steel shot will be compulsory and you do need a DOC permit. As i shoot 12g and with GSPfolloswer I simply use steel .the sole exception is a farm we shoot and if my SxScomes out -then its 12g trap loads -likewise rabbits.
rifles on riverbeds with geese and???who knows what or who in the vicinity -hmmmmmm....................

DoC and Federated farmers were shooting them in their hundred from a helicopter with lead shot, and leaving the carcasses to rot in the lake margins FFS!

yes im well aware of it as someone on here unearthed that fact via admission from a very embarrased doc official here in CHCH .the rationale apparently is steel shot is forbidden where shooting from fixed wing/helo is involved
.The carcasse clean up on ellesmere that time was initially a little slap happy but once media got involved oh boy did things get into hi gear to remove any incriminating mess.

They didn't just do it there, but in several back country tarns as well, leaving a stinking polluted mess.

I am well aware of that ,however for all intents&purposes the common law home of NZ's canada population is regarded as lake ellesmere. At the time this fucking nefarious (aka politically adept)massacre was planned the estimate of SI population was 40,000birds and 33%of that was destined for culling.
This event via one TomLanauze led to the birth of NZGBHA, which Tom intended.as a means of gooseshooters having input into this whole sorry saga.

, The combination of Hon David Carter Min agriculture and HON Kate Wilkinson Min Conservation. pleaded poverty to F&G-not a brass razoo available to assist with canada management
Wilkinson had the bare faced audacity to say as much on Canty TV interview with Rob cope Williams,. RCW when i emailed him was bloody gunshy!
With an election looming with a select high country group of FF bleating, these two managed(lovely term that ,open to a variety of interpretations) to come up with $100,000.00 to sort the problem-plus DOC,E-Can and every other local authority including the village idiot. Wilkinson was sacrificed subsequent to the repercussions of this.
That massacre was the biggest fuck up in christendom for now old man canada is back bigger better and wiser than ever and sweet jesus natures wee shakeup of canterbury was literally like viagra to em -theyre all over the avon&heathcote rivers and estuary and cant be touched.oh yes the very same local authorities are planning again but if Im any judge of character Id be putting $10.00 each way on the canadas to win this race too.
At the time TV3 and a local paper reporter rang me about the devastation at ellesmere but as Tom Lanauze was already on the case I left it to him to show the reality -and he did so bloody well!
I have it also on impeccable authority that CCC persons used suppressed .22s to attempt to clear the canadas off public water areas in their jurisdiction -big fail both times.
-bloody funny that considering DOC managers told me no way Jose when I asked to use a .22 to euthanize birds with shot off beaks&partially missing wings that I had to watch slowly starve to death .no I could not get em to where a 12g was a 100%foolproof end to the agony!

GSP follower if youre out there care to tell what you told me about wee conversations with DOC managers regarding this.

My son had friends coming back from the coast who witnessed ,to their horror tourists in tears as the birds of death blew the shit out of the terified birds on a major lake bystate higfhway 73. furious -that was a bloody understement when i spoke to them!
i also had a conversation with a F&G official who told me of a coast chopper crew who were geared up to go until warned off in no uncertain terms.
when a number of dead canadas were found on Lake Hoch stetter The shit hit the fan.
it seems coasters in this instance have more regard for wildlife than some!

Another great day yesterday at the goosegarden.
Tooka young bloke whom Im mentoring for his first experience with shotty and gamebirds.
wonderfcul to see a mob of 50-60 canadas in fullflight honking and stirring up other mobs on ellesmere.
    Bodes well for us hunters!
Anyhow called on me old mates the ferals but the cunning buggers had shifted house.
he we were snooping about when in the middle of a rush bush sits a big white head with a mean eye looking at us.
young bloke gets asll excited as i sneak forwrd -hello,hellowhats this -a great fat grey arse poking out of said bush ,like a badly parked car in your garage .
wellI looks over edge of bush-its lousy with adults&juveniles and away they go!
dropped one adult then two juveniles with a single headshot ,but bugger me fat albert snores away blissfully!
how ya do that with a shotty boomin overhead ill never know -but both of us wondered if in fact hes dead
anyhow reload and go to poke him in the bum with the barrel, when "wtf shit a brick" ...yep hes awake and off-I gave him a coupla seconds start before he too ended up beak first ploughing the dirt after a fatal baikal blowjob!!
The apprentice is standing there open mouthed at clinteastwoods shootin, whilst "clint "himself is actually wonderin howthe hell he managed it!!
so ive got four prime geese to process today -add them to my xmas larder ,or actually ive a couple of blokes at work who are keen on a feed of goose -might make em a wee xmas present!
Oh yea -merry Xmas to all you huntin&shootin buggers out there and may all your holiday snoopin with shotty /rifle go well.
look after the whanau too.to those of our crew who've suffered losses this year ,remember we are thinking of you at this time ,so go well in the knowledge tat hopefully those who left us are in a better place!

your conversation with DOC hierachy following the so called culling on ellesmere/throughout high country lakes.the point that the so called authorising DOCofficial was conveniently on leave.lead ammunition was used in breach of soc called regulations< ,the plan that FF F&G, DOC plus mr Thomas L (god of NZGBHA)all were party too that was not adhered to-and the bloody schemoozle that led kate wilkinson as incumbent min conservation, being treated like one of HenryVIII wives
does that refresh the dormant cells old chap!
