That they are! Here in my arid desert we have some good populations along several small rivers where there is good cover and a lot of cottonwoods. I have a spot just three miles from my house. After I shot my first one it became my last one. He was too stunning to destroy, and I'm a hunter of 65+ years experience. I don't fault anyone for hunting them, and they can be a real biatch to hit, as they zigzag down the creeks and small river channels.
