    Churchill 612 12g shotgun reviews

First year getting into duck shooting and impulse bought the above shotgun on the weekend.
Seemed nice and light and overall nice for something that will be used a couple times a year.
Anyone had any experience with these? What’s the recoil like? While I’m here can anyone recommend a smaller shotgun for a 10yo.

cant help with first bit...as for the second...something not too light with single barrel THAT FITS.... nothing else matters, cheap wooden stock means you can take bit off the bum without crying about butchering a classic...and glue it back on later...a single barrel gun is never useless and always a joy to carry.
too light and recoil becomes an issue...find some 30grm steel loads or buy box of the bismith type loads...plurry expensive but kid wont go through many.good ear pro is essential with steel loads as the are plurry loud.
give kid the "job " of finishing off woundies on water...that removes 99% of the pressure and also allows them to rest forend on something if gun feels heavy...gets them into the spirit of duck shooting and allows them to get used to gun handling without pressure to hit fast moving flying target..that frustration has many years of time ahead

Further to mickey ducks words -better still and if its avaailble some 7/8oz-1oz steel clay bird loads.

When I started out wqith a sxs 12g iused to start the season with these as iwas a bit recoil adverse .

As for the churchill what type s/a u/o pump. Theyre an OK gun to start with .
Ive a similar one an original Escort s/a which i bought second hand 16yrs ago and its still chugging along .had extended mag before aunty jacindas interference but doesnt impact greatly .its for geese mainly(3"chamber)
my other goto is a cracker wee baikal o/u single trigger ,bought from a mate after his son found girls!
that lassie does it all feral geese ducks clays anything .

both guns arent top shelf but hey theyre a working tool not a bloody cabinet queen .

heres to hot barells and happy shooting.
