it's the opposite of driven shooting, instead of ringing round to make sure you don't wear anything that might be the same or clash with someone else.
Movement is pretty vital. If your fully camo'd up and your moving lots when the birds approach then they can flare away.
I had a mate that took a bit of "training" to stop him from ducking everytime birds approached. The maimai was well hidden in the mangroves. We were fully camo'd up and yet the sudden movement was enough to scare them away.
Cover your face and duck call hand, and when you bring your call to mouth nice and slowly does it.
Face paint on the hand works well.
Or you could do what I did to my bro in law, and scooped up a oarfull of rich Kaipara mud. "here mate, chuck this on!" Worked a treat till it dried out and everytime I made him laugh it hurt his face
Well, this weekend is it...I am off duck shooting...armed with your all help and advice and what I saw in Australia, I am very excited about it all...have even got the duck calls pretty good...just have to bake the Cold Tea Cake and B & E pie and it is all organised...thanks again, Guys...
