Plenty of birds around but we had to work hard for these ones, very cagey. A nice evening shot with @mawzer308

Got 5 parries and one mallard this morning. Unusual to see parries at my spot, which is a F&G balloted area. No-one else was around, so nice and relaxed. I had my son's dog with me, and she doesn't like parries, but after a bit of encouragement, she retrieved them all. She is dynamite on mallards though.

went for armed wander up local river..had five parries give me long range fly by..not close enough to tempt a load of #3s in their direction though... saw one hare... the quail that were around in December were nowhere to be seen and no sign of a mallard at all..still was good walk with both dogs.Poppy does the sweep back n forth across in front of me inside shotgun range with almost zero imput from me..just odd single whistle if she ranges too far,or sees bird and decides she better follow it..... happy but testing times ahead I feel.

i mean sheep are dumb but not dumb enough to hang round with dogs arsing about or guns going off .
but dairy cattle or yearlings of any cattle breed ''yea lets have a nosy might be some fun to be had''

haha they do love a good nosy. When we get parries (speaking of dumb animals) land in the field I try sneak up through the cows in the next paddock... It's not a very stealthy look when you have a herd running over to you and making all sorts of noises.

Four mallards this morning. Had these spoonies come in, but they are just too pretty to shoot. May have been a different story early in the season!
