Thread: Game bird hunting - Duck shooting Clarification

Hi there

Just need a clarification on the Duck hunting requlation for Wellington region

Wellington Hunting Regulations | Wellington

Some of the best quality waterfowl hunting in the Wellington Fish and Game region can be found in the public hunting areas. Any game bird licence holder who obtains our $5 game bird hunting access permit, may hunt the following wetlands after opening weekend for the remainder of the game season

Does the "after opening weekend" mean that I cant hunt on the opening day.

Please advice as I wana start on the openning day of the season..

So does that mean that no one shoots on the opening day in Wellington region. Or there are ballots etc for the opening day which you have to apply for..

Balloted Stands only for opening weekend, kinda says it in the print.

It says ballots advertised each Feb so you have some time to ring the office and ask exactly how to get your name in for an opening day posie.
Obviously there ll be lots of others doing the same. Get in to it and good luck !!! At least if you miss out you can use plan B and cruise around a bit to the sites you ll be allowed on ...

Just sent an email and one of the guys responded. He has advised of sending me the application form and the details of stands that will be free within 2 weeks from now.
