Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.
Yes we do but they are not very robust chicks and have never made it to adults.

Great pic of that rooster john m
Good that you sorted out the killer puke Dundee
Parries are great parents when they get them on the water - this pair got three out - I have been keeping an eye on them most days since 19 Sep -
I know pukes kill ducklings but this pair were not afraid of the heap of pukes round here and the pukes never bothered them - that looks fairly relaxed -
So 25 Oct - now they are half grown - no wonder cause the little buggars never stop feeding on stuff round the edge -
Couldn’t believe it yesterday - I knew there was a mallard hen with a couple of ducklings somewhere round the edge of this pond - the parrie drake swam over to some willow weed and hounded the mallard hen out and over to another nearby piece of water - she landed by her drake and the parrie flew back to his brood - aggressive buggar - the poor mallard separated from her brood and squawking her head off
Breeding program looking good here.

While setting a cage trap at the pond tonight Sean spooked a nesting teal or spoonbill. Another reason to shoot the aerial predator.

I had a wander round our block today - pruning young natives, digging weeds and more bloody weeds - blowing like shit so no spraying
Must have seen ten roosters, couple of hens and heaps of Quail and Tui - roosters crowed all day
Nearly stepped on this nest - hope she comes back - couldn’t resist taking a pic - not a lot of prep - just straight into green grass
Went round all my thirty bait stations and 12 stoat traps - bloody possums are back and cleaned out four stations but hardly any rat bait touched - nothing in the stoat traps - not even a rat
Came home to semi suburbia and a bloody big rooster walked across the lawn but too fast for me to take a pic
Bloody predator got another parrie duckling One left hope it survives for the parrie summer season

I've been reading on a NZ chook site of FB about hedgehogs killing chicks, observed.
One less hare out where we walk the dogs, Obviously didn't get the email!! .
In the hare vs pointer stakes the hare is the loser at the moment. Smart arses worked a pincer movement and drove it into a fence.
Its currently residing in the freezer without its furry coat
