Touched up my Tanglefree decoys I have from last season. Took a drake into Mitre10 and they paint matched most colours.
I will write up the colours I used for intrest sake.
I waterblasted the decoys and lost most of the green and grey off of the drakes, touched up the hens
What ya reckon?
Colours for above: Palette are the colour charts
Dulux weather shield x10, 101 super enamel
Palette 04 Waiheke (green)
Palette 19 Te Kuitit (black/brown)
Palette 40 Tirau (light grey)
Palette 42 Gore (brown)
Palette 03 Masterton (yellow/brown-beaks)
Sample pot Vivid White
Mixed a few colours to get the right shade etc.
They do look good Baz my tangle free should just need a wash as they were new last year also and have been in the box since the end of last season.
Got some doves cheap in the US and want to paint them up like pigeons, anyone have any tips for them?????

CAnt remember if I have sent the painting article to everyone, anyone still wanting it PM me your email. Also have another one of Paul's "decoying with attitude".
busted, Yes these are stock GHG paint jobs Ive added the paint on the top and around the tail.
But you can do the same to old decoys reading the article.
Did you get yours painted bro?
i think 50+ decoys is enuff for now, so will paint the doz old ones some other time, still want to get 6 higdon feeders and another 6 fuds
I have just painted according to Pauls article and I have a few questions.
Does the white stripe on the neck of the drakes go around the back as well?
I painted a small white triangle on the back of the drakes by the leg as per the instructions. The factory paint has the white on the tip of the tail feathers. Any thoughts on which one is better?
You would paint the ring right the way around for a active pose.
as for the tails, it wont hurt either way, less white the better in my opinion.
and if you're doing a few dozen, its easier not to do it.
Ok, that makes sense, thanks. Wouldn't the last two in your photos be actives and therefore have the ring right round?
