Worst opening in a long time. Many factors including drought didn't help. 26 mallards and 2 pretend ducks ( parries ).

    Real quiet.

80 odd mallards and half dozen parries for us - 6 shooters. Less than half we normally get for the weekend on our pond, last year we limited on mallards both days, and limited on parries by 830-ish both days as well! Same recipe/routine as past years too. This opening we shot at least 90% of what circled in on the pond, so decoys and calling was on point, shooting was ok. Fine weather, less birds flying, less shooters in our area, etc all contributing to smaller bag. Dog worked brilliantly - best she's ever done - I was stoked. A great weekend nonetheless, looking forward to rest of the season. Our crew has been shooting together for ten years now, we started off hunting together as keen students, now it's a weekend for catching up with best mates and our families, how times have changed!!

Is it May? the weather was certainly mild all weekend I nearly got eaten alive by sand-fly's uncomfortable sweating in waders.

New pup "Mack" was Ace only 5 months old but worth the effort taking him out for the weekend steady on the shot and pliable

    Limit (8) Saturday (4) Sunday (1) Monday

Certainly wasn't my best performance shot wise the new Benelli took some getting used to

Took me awhile to get used to the Benelli M2 much like Italian cars the Italian logic is to be different, and it certainly was after the Browning.
Inertia the need to cock the 1st shell when reloading
I desperately need to shim it to suit me so I can get it patterning where I'm aiming

    Photo's to follow
