    Some summer "Upland" shooting..........

So I am in Mexico for the Xmas New year's period and I went out to a friends ranch for a few days, advising him on a few aspects of Game management as well as have a general look around. Ranch is 12,000 Hect, all the cattle have been removed, so it's fantastic habitat for the deer, now if we can just get rid of the coyotes and M lions...............
Anyway, I grabbed a 20g that was in the house and shot a few quail for the pot, slow to take off, haven't been hunted. Valley quail, bloody good eating after cooking over mesquite charcoal and washed down with good Tequila and cold Tecate. No dogs so I had to keep on the birds when they dropped. Cactus must be hard on the dogs tho................
Mid-winter here, 25-30 during the day 10-18 at night. (in town) Sonora.

Sounds like bird heaven or hell ! Depending if you the shooter or bird ! . Get amoungst it . I'm keen on a early look for some birds if you want . Got a bloke who will let me train my dog on pigeons , he's a field trials guy ( spaniels) won't hold that against him . So hope to have dog pointing like a demon all going well .

Wow what a paradise! It would be as much fun getting rid of the coyotes and the mtn lions as hunting the birds! Must get a bit hot for the dogs though.

Yeah, I rate quail as no 1 for me, I'd rather chase them over Pheasant anyday.
Tequila is all good, it's the home made Bacanora which is produced up here that can put you on your arse.............. apparently.............
Yeap EL B, if you like em with a tan, then this is definetly the place to be. I got mine already, but there are plenty of smokin' ones left.....

I used to hunt in Arizona. Good stuff.

That country is hard on the dogs. They need boots and having to pull bits of cactus out isn't a rare occurrence.

El B what would you do with one of those? At the very least she would need to like dogs and guns.
