    Yeah muppets.
I have been replying to both that one and the FB page's. Love how they all resort to insults and have no facts.

Another good one...let puts guns on ducks to make it fair. Yeah....thats not animal abuse.

Well this guy has it pretty cushty doesn't he? He never has to forage or hunt for his own food, but he condemns people that do... knowing nothing about the subject... but trying to sound like he does by saying he grew up "around guns". What the hell does that even mean?

The big fact these guys miss is hunting your own food is FAR more humane that dragging something through the meat works or having chickens locked up in little cages. But that doesn't help his point so he'll just leave that out.

Tosspot. It annoys me that liberal hippies get venues like this to voice their absolutely worthless opinions.

Ye gods, where is the love ?

People are entitled to their opinions, misguided or not.

Resorting to calling this person names and the rest of the homophobic nonsense is not doing the "hunting" community any good either...

I hunt, and I compete in shooting (target) sports. To me shooting animals is either for food, or for pest control. I do not shoot animals for fun or sport. If I want to shoot something for fun, it is targets, pinecones etc. That is just my value system so I do get what he is talking about (partly)

Some of you have no fcuken idea about how hunters are viewed by urban folks, and the sad reality is that is the majority of the population. We had a 15 year old girl on a MSC bushcraft course this weekend, and she genuinely listed "hunters" as one of the risk factors on her trip planning form...

Instead of resorting to name calling or thinking that anyone with a slightly different approach must be gay, how about inviting a city kid out to a farm, or arrange a hunt where they can be exposed to ethical hunting...

    Right, rant over

    I didn't see any homophobia.

Should there be any love? I don't think so. This guy is equating us to murderers and psychopaths. He's being a cock. Big difference to just disagreeing.

I get that some people don't like hunting. Fine. In my experience they haven't really thought about it too hard, and after a little reasoned discussion they may not like it but they can at least see the need for it and why we enjoy it. There's a vegan guy at work and even he gets it and doesn't hate me for it. I've also taken a few city folk out hunting and shooting and they've all enjoyed themselves.

This guy just flat out hates hunters for doing what any other predatory animal species does and has done since life started popping up, except he's attributing some kind of psychotic hatred for all things living to it... which in my experience couldn't be further from the truth.

Yup! They are the main ones doing name calling after their flawed reasoning has failed completely. They are left with nothing else.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!

Okay, I understand that they are protected etc and muppets shooting them are dealt the same as any other F&G regulation breakers, it still doesn't explain why?

As far as I see it.

    They are introduced.
Are out competed by Black Swans
Are agressive (didn't one drown a toddler at Lake Pupuke in Auckland years ago?)
Are unlikely to ever be a sustainable game bird in NZ

Why bother keeping them in NZ, let alone protect them?
Is it because of some sentiment associated with Europe, i.e. property of the Monarch? Or because of classical ballet dances/kids fairy tales?

I'm being very lazy by not Googling this, but I'm fairly certain they're protected by the queen... for some reason.

Also did you know the swan is the only bird with a knob? well... that is... other than those ones that stand on K road in the morning
