This is the only knot I use, have never broken it, even on kings.

Same here, but I usually double up the braid thickness if connecting to flurocarbon or mono

Gave it a go for three or so hours today. Tried in channels tried around reef tried along the boulder bank tried out on the mud.
Not a single bite or nudge bit I still managed to snag a reef and lose one lot of gear.
Broke at the hook uni knot.

If it were me, I think I would try Pink baits drifted through usual Gurnard spots.
Make sure the bait is hitting bottom before retrieve

Have had this for 4 and a bit months now I think.

Have caught Gurnard,Blue cod,Kahawai and Cuda with it so far but no snapper yet.

It seems to be particularly effective on the Cuda and big Kahawai which are fun to catch on the light gear but the cuda are hard on the trace.

I am always mindful not to lift the fish from the water with the rod to hopefully avoid breaking it and always netting the catch is a little tiresome but the fight up till then is fun.

Just need to catch more eating fish with it...coming in to summer now so here's hoping I can make the most of it.

VC don't be shy to try a single hook dropper with 20-30lb fluro on your soft bait set. It has been my go too for a while now when bottom fishing and it seems to out catch the rest by quite a lot. Using a 4/0 hook with a thumb sized bait. smaller sinker than I normally would use say 2-3 oz. I find when fishing is a bit harder light gear comes into its own.

I do do that already on my other gear but with bigger hooks.

I got two spare spools for my softbait set for like $10 each. Spooled one with 6kg and the other with 2kg mono. The 2kg is just silly thin but surprisingly with a goid rod and light drag it gets them up
