Thread: Bent Butt ? or Straight Butt ?

Those of you in the 09 don't have to answer this one if your not comfortable jokes aside I need to pair a rod to a Electric reel , there two options . Bent or straight . Bent from what I gather is designed to be hands free mostly . Never used one , can anyone add

I think the bent butt is so it can be winched from the rod holder without highsticking the rod (snapping rod by lifting too high)

But I am only a learner myself so could be wrong.

Munsey me old boy. Deep fish are easier to play on a bent butt. As mentioned by VC about highsticking. What some do is get some stainless tube and make a bent rod holder insert that the rod can then also be put in. This makes it more versatile if you wish to chuck it in a gimble.

Yep bent rod is the way to go you use your legs more not your back..leg muscles are bigger
