It seems this paragraph might have confused a few of you. The "her" I was referring to was my mother. I don't have a daughter, my 7year old is a boy

He's a jammy wee bugger that trout is not the only family fish record he holds

Thing is he has a relentlessly positive attitude and gives it 110 all the time. A good reminder that if you do that anything is possible !!

ATM he is constantly pestering me about tuna !!

    Caught in the canals?
    Talk about great condition.

Rotorua lakes are pumping with this warm weather, another handful of nice condition trout ready for the smoker tomorrow.

Took my old man (visiting from Oz) out for a cast up the Wairau on Friday morning. I've caught a few along the river in the past five years but always released them to fight another day, safe to say though my luck on finding spots you can walk to and reliably catch something has been fickle.
This hen absolutely inhaled the spinner and gill-hooked itself, was bleeding badly turning belly up by the time it was in the net so that's the first trout I've taken home to eat since moving to NZ in 2018. Long time coming and still a good day on the river with the greybeard.

Few more and I might start recovering the costs of my fishing licenses...

Been a long time since I've been out, took a mate for his first proper river trout, he managed to snag a nice one on a softbait that I designed and made the molds for.Name: 20240119_152438.jpg

Flick me a PM and I'll get some heading your way, I still need to refine them a bit but you can give them a crack as is if you want

Oh wow. I’m doing a fishing trip this year and want to have a good look around those areas.
    Beautiful!

    Well done anyway.
