What do they go like on a plate? I'm thinking marlin type texture/taste?

Great fish and beautiful eating. Only ever caught one (a 14kg bull outside Whangaparoa harbour) but they are a fish too remember. Aerobatic and colourful.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
Dolphinfish/mahimahi is fucking delicious. My favorite pelagic, so yum. That's a decent size one, well done, hope you get a decent hunk off it, or did you go out with "Capt" Moko?
Awesome mahimahi there!
Damn I've had Yea but know I'm hungry

Nice sized mahi mahi mate, would love to catch one that big. We had a stags do game fishing in raro, but unfortunately no luck.
If any of you get one of these around the boat, try and keep them in close because all there buddy's come round and you can hook two our three if you keep them in the water.
Best take the photo of them straight away as the colours go from them very fast!
As said before really really good eatingjust amazing, probably some of the best fish I've caught and eaten.
Good fighting fish too!!! If you can hook a couple![]()
We took a 1/3 of it back to the hotel, got the chef to cook it, it fed 10 off us and still a massive plate left over.
Back in Auckland now, was only over there 3 days.
It must have taken 500m of line, it was like winding in a bag of cement, made harder by the big seas we were in. Every now and then it would take a few meters of line back but really amazed at how spastic it went when hauled aboard.
Yep you need to keep fingers and toes safe as they have a good bite on them![]()
