    Dawnbreakers club

Are any of you Nelson boys members of the dawnbreakers fishing club?

Looks like they have their snapper comp on this Saturday. Have been told they have got some real good prizes for the young ones.

Just seeing if any of yous are going?

Gotta join the club to enter.
Every year I think I will but something else always comes up.

I was once a member, Missus and my dad did quite well at one of the original Snapper Cup events. Got a wee bit awkward when she won a Simrad unit.
Have not entered since and unlikely too as sold the boat. Should be a good event if its like the previous ones

I've ended up joining them, $55 for 2 adults and 3 kids for the year. $125 to enter the same for the snapper cup, includes a meal and if the kids have fun and win something it will probably be good value for money.

It looks like they are an active club with catch ups and trips etc. One thing I see they also do is the big brother and big sister thing, I will probably be keen on helping them out with that.

Now all I need is a fishing spot for Saturday morning...HINT HINT.

Thought I had better update my trip.
Had a great day on the water with the kids, fished 25m off the marine reserve half way along.
I had prepped the kids and told them it will take a while for the burley to kick in ...... Nope, first drop straight in to them and it stayed that way until the tide changed.
I have never put so many snaps back, all about 350mm .....only take what you need for a feed, and I didn't want to spend all night filleting.
Fletcher got a nice 6kg snapper and then a just legal kingfish all on his kids fishing rod.

    You scoop any prizes.

I was loitering at cable bay on sunday morning seen some bloody nice snaps brought in.

Some on boats, some on kayaks so fish not far out.

Yep, lots of spot prizes, Fletcher got 3rd heaviest snapper and scored a nice rod and reel, tackle bag and stuff.
I didn't see anything overly big come in but lots of good size stuff....The boys I talked to that went deep got next to nothing.
I think alot of boats gave the big fish to the kids for the prizes....I whish I could say the same, all I got was a barry and lost a heap of tackle.

All yous out there that complain about H&F (me included), I really have to take my hat of to them with the amount of prizes they gave out. I don't like spending more than I have to, but when I see some of it coming back into these sorts of things.....I'm not so worried now about spending with them!
