new masks have a layer of silicon on the lense from the joining process
i use tooth paste to get it off just a quick rub is all it needs
or try the lighter trick
I've tried the name brand anti fogs but it didn't last the whole dive and was a waste of time.
Anyway I was put on to cleaning the lenses once a season with toothpaste and using Johnson and Johnson no more tears baby shampoo before each dive. It works really really well and its cheap as just wash you mask properly - its not really "no more tears" if it gets in your eye or up your nose in a strong concentration and you can't really rub your eyes when your down below.

Never had a problem with the old 'gob & rub' technique....if that changes, shampoo here i come, thanks guys
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
When they fog and you're on the bottom why don't you just let in some water to clear them then purge them? I do it when needed. Sometimes I just keep a little water in the goggles.
A little dish wash liquid mixed with meths makes a good anti fog ,just apply with a bit of cloth .
Works a treat on windscreens as well .
Gun control means using both hands
We always use johnsons baby shampoo, Picked that idea up on a commercial dive boat in vanuatu.
Every time I get a new mask I cut a potato up into a cube and rub it all over the glass. only ever once.
After that spit works fine
Also works well on the inside of your car...Try it (potato not spit)
Would toothpaste be too abrasive for prescription lens?
Could try pissing in your mates mask. If that don't work on his then try the shampoo trick on yours
Johnsons Baby shampoo worked a treat, not a hint of the dreaded fog
