    Electric fishing reels

    Am thinking about getting one , Shimano 4000 is whats been mentioned . Are they any good ? . $920 with rod how does that sound ?

    They are bloody good when fishing in 400+m off Kaikoura. I used the ones that were advertised in the H&F catalogue a while back. Can't remember the name sorry. They were on the fishing boat the guy from Kaikoura H&F has.

    i had to repair one, bit of a bugga to do but very well made. cant comment about fishing and how good they are but mechanically and electrically pretty nice

    Thanks your post made me ring the repair man He says that he has repaired a few too and are just a bit light. He has recommended the diawa or the 9000 shimano

    iv got the daiwa and its the business
    pulls sharks up two at a time haha

    good on the blue nose in 300m+ water
    windings for suckers at that depth

    I was thinking more of hooking the plug at the bottom of the lake and lifting it so the island sinks.

    I have a mate who fishes out of Kaikoura regularly. Catches Ling on a rod. I asked him how long it takes too wind up to check his baits? Two stubbies was his reply
