Nice and on an incoming tide too I assume ? I'm pretty keen to give it a go although if it's at night and close to shore I would be more inclined to get the spear out, but if ya don't want to get wet

Yeah its more for the challenge than the quantity, I could easily spear them too

Went out from Whangaroa for a Kingi jig. Tried my usual spot, no joy. Went out deeper still no joy. Towed a couple of feather jigs back and got 5 skippies. Pretty happy with that. Never caught any before. Bled one for eating. Apparently good sashimi??.
    Keeping the others for bait.

Yip nothing wrong with fresh skippy as sashimi. I have been known to eat one on the boat after it didnt get eaten as a livey

I thought about doing that, but had a word with myself. As much as I want to catch a flounder on a softbait, it's just easier to use a spear under those circumstances. I get it though!

Specifically for flounder? I do like the look of those Zman LarvaZ, must resist spending more money on lures!

Specifically for me yeah. Guessing most Zman's are for US species. That long one is from Japan for targeting mackerel.

Will we see a balsa wood hand carved crab lure sometime soon??? Your lures are next level good,I'm sure you would achieve success if tried for flounder too.

Likewise, although Flounder should come in during the day too I would think ? so chucking around a lure in the day time might be worth a crack. If you use a small enough spinning rod it might be like landing a Halibut
