I had a few goes using the smallest soft baits the local hunting and fishing (yeah I know pre tarrant) had...they were about as long as the longest white bait but maybe twice the girth and kinda colored like a pilchard.
I got a few hits but no hookups but then I was blind fishing. @Joe Schmo very kindly send over some bucktails for me to try on them like they do in the states but he sent them to @stingray so of course I have never received them.

You may have come across AlbertLyu. He is a master of the art. If you watch his YouTube videos, you'll see how slowly he retrieves his lures when casting blind. So slow, it would be painful for most of us!

Great work on the flounder. With your three casts, was it a case of getting the flounder to see the lure or to strike the lure?

It saw it each pass and started to follow along on the second pass. I increased my speed a bit on the third and that triggered the bite

Tool an old workmate out for a fish yesterday .
Launched at cable bay so didn't have to worry about the tide but the swell at high tide was an arse getting off of the beach.
    Heap of dolphins around.
Wind dropped off and became a beautiful afternoon.
Went shallow for my usual winter gurnard fishing...they weren't there or maybe it was just the slack water around the top of the tide...anyway moved deeper and got onto them and the inevitable spiky dogs..was about 50/50 spiky/carrot.

When it all comes together it goes so right , got home to meet VC in the drive way, got to the ramp to find that we could launch into the creek ,the wind dropped away to nothing .. headed down the creek with just just enough water to motor, got to the dive spot with enough vis to hunt the crays.

Hit a patch of rock with a cray that was silly enough to hold fast , then after a bit of a search found a second that did very silly things instead of escaping it panicked and backed into a no where crack, so he got a free boat ride as well.

Nothing much else about, surfaced and asked VC so I’ve got two do you think we can catch the tide, steamed for the channel got over the bar with less than a meter to spare, saved us from a couple of hours sitting and waiting in the cold and dark for the flood tide , beached the boat , the tide dropped away trailered the boat easily, thanks to the skipper being bloody good at what he does!

Home just before my good lady got home , hot shower and a cold beer. Happy Lisa happy stingray.
Sometimes you just crack it ! This evening was one to enjoy and remember!

Once again cheers VC bloody excellent!
