Quick after work dive/fish with @stingray this evening.
Dropped a longline in shallow on the way out, Dropped the craymaster on some new turf for a prospect...a few cracks and caves but no crays in residence. Steamed off to another spot we had done ok in the past. Up he came with 3 nice keeper bucks.
Longline produced 6 good size gurnard and a few small ones released and a Kahawai.
Beautiful evening and great to finally be back in daylight savings.

    Tennyson Inlet over the weekend.
The wives in the dinghy outfished the men and kids in the boat.
Good gurnard catching, catch and release with a few small pannies. Kahawai on the run all afternoon. Only a few sharks, and a rig made for tea on Saturday night.
Blue Cod galore if only they were in season in the Sounds, good size fish too. Spottie galore too unfortunately. We were moving regularly to get away from the Codlys.

I was gonna ask what bait he used to catch it. I would think an apple on a string

That one was shot with a spare gun, but I have used fermented grain as bait in the past

Up at 4am roused the teenager and off to pick up @stingray.
Load the boat and off on the 4 hour drive to Kiakoura .
    Conditions were very nice.
    Tried a few spots.
I managed to prong a couple of butters, one more pulled off the shaft...and missed a few more.
I need a shorter gun for Kiaks I think.
Joe found plenty of crays but lots of smalls and in berry.
Beautiful day and good to get in the water...my first time for the season.
Cheers for doing what you do Joe.

Very leisurely start today out with Dad and Son.
Was pretty slow for a start but then I got a nice fat snap on the strayline.

More burly and more waiting then the strayline took off again....definitely more weight on this one.

Tried to get a few photos on the boats measure that was too short and get it back in the water but then it kicked out of my hands and landed upside down on my thigh driving one of it's back spines 2 inches or so into it!
Tried to release it but it floated up...pulled up anchors and burly went and got it again and tried again to release but he was rooted so had to come home.
We had dropped a longline and got 3 more very good sized snaps and headed in.
