Put the saucepan under some overhanging branches. Wait for a nice windy day (minimum 20 knots). Fill a large drum with freezing water. Now get into the drum and start casting.

Randomly move the drum around the lawn. After casting for 5 hours, consistently nailing the target, you MAY be ready to present a fly to a fish. No guarantees about the fish even bothering to have a look at said fly...

Is it just me or dos fly fishing sound like a highly ineffectual method of catching fish?

If you can use a stock whip you have the art sussed for fly fishing.

Bullshit. If you used a stockwhip your screwed.
Many years ago I could land a fly on a dime, after using the stockwhip a lot there is now no fly left to land.

Whippers end up with the hook snapped from.the fly.
Sage are good ghr are good. Kilwell even had something pretty decent going with their innovation (stiffer more.powerful rod) and presentation (as name suggests, not such a grunt stick) have a go with a few. First rod.i got (was 7 years old) was a ryobi graphite rod
Was like trying to fish with a noodle.but caught a heap of fish and had a heap of fun with it (i actually still get it out sometimes just for a trip dowm memory lane )
