Lost the lure on a snag and attempted to wade in to retrieve it but the snow melt from the Ruahine Ranges was too bloody cold. I wasn't going deeper than my knees and fark that was cold enough so I snapped the nylon and called it a day.

So do you fish the Manawatu River, or one of its tributaries @Dundee.
I'm just thinking that it's not a very big river bed for the size of its catchment

Yes Manawatu River but am way upstream of most tributaries.Norsewood catchment and Maungapork are the first to fill it up here. All those tributaries from the Ruahine Ranges are down stream.180km of River way to fill.

We do rivers properly in the North Island Oraki. None of your braided nonsense up here.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
