I far prefer the uni knot as it does everything. You can tie it up tight onto something, make a loop, and join lines with it (even mono to braid). And if the mono is heavy (400lb) then the perfection loop is solid and quick to tie. Also I would not use copper crimps on mono as they tend to have sharp edges and can cut into it compared to alloy.
Ive had only a few clinch knots fail but agree with everything else. Ive had a fair few uni knots fail. For a loop i tie a dirty figure 8. Surprisingly strong. Yip copper for steel as i said

Figure 8 for a short double? I agree in light line. Like my Bimini twist too. Works well in braid.

Yeah light line up to 80lb. I make all my dropper rigs with 4 fig 8s. Never had on pop yet. Those dumb dropper knots just pull tight against the hook with a big enough fish

Im pretty useless with line knots to be fair.

I use a chinch? for onto a swivel or hook in mono/floro and a double overhand knot to make a loop for droppers or sinkers. I havent had success with the uni but clearly I am doing something wrong cos they either break or unravel when I tie them.

Learnt the fg knot a while ago....how much wear before you retie?

I am mostly just a dirty bait fisherman and while I do tie my own ledger rigs etc mostly I just buy black magic ones and curse when a cuda takes a hook off....been burnt by the cheap burnsco/wharyfardy flasher rigs...get a decent snap on and the knot just unravels!

Knot gurus probably curse those swivel clip things but I bloody love them, so quick and easy to swap between setups.
