Thread: Havelock fishing

Hi everyone,
Whats the fishing like around havelock? Do you havd to go far out towards the sound entrance etc?
All info appreciated as we may be spending a few days there in march.

Great fishing in Kenepuru. First light for big snapper.

North side of the entrance is the deep channel, worth a crack ……you want burley and pilchards and a bit of tide. Big hooks 7-8/0 whole pilchards straylined if possible. Other wise ledger rigs with big hooks and burley fish based .

Will be a few big dogs about so I’d run heavy traces 60lb plus black magic tough traces
