Hawea summer salmon from the shore?

Hello all, have gotten back into freshwater fishing recently and have caught a few trout but would love to give a salmon a crack.

Does anyone have experience catching salmon around the Hawea area from the shore during summer?

Don't have access to a boat so was planning to fish around inlets from the shore in the morning or afternoons. Is it better to source a kayak or other means of getting into deeper water? Or should I just drive up the channels around Twizel instead of mucking around the edge of the lake in summer?

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

@Haggie , I have plenty of experience targeting the Lake Hawea Salmon. The fish are present all year round as they are land locked. However the main times to target them from the shore is late November to Mid January as they congregate both at the Neck and also
at the Dam outlet . They aren't big fish been landlocked . Most guys used spinners , I use softbaits on them with good success .
    Generally bright colours.
It can be a little hit and miss with some evenings showing no result and others producing results quickly.
